Survey and map what outreach programs DC houses of worship have - so we know what help is available and where. Work on what is missing.
We could use city resources where they are most needed, if we knew what kinds of help - such as tutoring, mentoring, job training, senior programs, ESL, etc. - are already available, and what isn't therel. Mapping helps us see unmet needs and make good plans to fix them.

Actually, half of the work is already done; they just need to be put together; i.e:
ifcmw.org/Emergency Food & Shelter Directory; dchousingsearch.org; dcfoodfinders.org; or call the city's 211 or 311 number and ask. -

Wow, I was not aware of the Bridge Project. Will definitely connect the work we are doing at the seminary with this greater coalition. Thank you so much for sharing, Natalie. Be expecting an email from me to sign up as a partner.
Secambria, let's connect at the Summit somehow and we would love to incorporate our research with the 211 system as well.
Kristen, looking forward to meeting you too.

Grassroots efforts to map social services and programs should collaborate--and work with updated 211! So much energy is being exerted in disconnect. Www.thebridgeprojectdc.org has been working on this for a few years. If we can all find away to share information and support each other--we will make the greatest impact and minimize duplication of efforts.

The city is in the process of updating its 211 system known as Answers, Please! It is the city's resource and referral system. Currently available online (answersplease.dc.gov) and by phone (from DC dial 211), it may move to other platforms. There is every reason for nonprofits in DC, including houses of worship, to enter their information into this system. In fact, the system came about because a group of nonprofits in the early days of the Williams Administration came together to share resources and build a system. Otherwise, everyone and their grandmother was creating a resource directory.

Easten, that sounds wonderful! I would love to connect with you on that topic and hear more about the project as well. This is great news!

Hey Susan. I'm a student at Wesley Theological Seminary's Urban Ministry program. We are actually attempting to do this on a smaller scale downtown. Let's connect at the summit.

As a senior I'd like to know what programs and resources are coming to Rosedale.
