Develop a campaign that encourages adults to mentor DC youth. If only 1 in 10 adults volunteered, we could cover all DCPS students.
Existing nonprofits can manage the training, coordination, and support. Mentoring helps youth make smart choices and build a positive future. It also can help build bonds across our diverse city and dispel myths about our differences.

This is a brilliant suggestion, that would also involve minimal infrastructure investment into existing programs or into the development of more mentoring organizations. They do not presently have the staff capacity to provide high quality support, following best practices, to that many mentoring matches.
