Promote economic, social, and environmental JUSTICE
We need a city with economic justice and equality, with social justice and an end to all forms of oppression, environmental justice and an end to our support of fossil fuels, and real democracy:
--promote cooperatives instead of big corporations that benefit the 1% (no Walmart!)
--promote sustainable livelihoods, including training and support for regional farming, renewable energy projects, and energy conservation; ensure a living wage for all
--ensure that all have good housing and access to healthy food
--ensure that all have access to good health care, establish public or cooperative neighborhood health clinics that charge by ability to pay
--ensure educational opportunities are available to all by increasing support for public schools (up through community college) and libraries
--promote restorative justice as an alternative to our criminal injustice system
--promote diversity in DC and condemn and resist nationalist and racist policies like deportations
--municipalize the private utility companies so that we can more easily transition to renewable energy and stop paying the CEOs' salaries monthly
--provide bigger incentives for weatherization and local solar power (hot water and electric) through the neighborhood cooperatives and other means
--transition to city decision-making via direct local democracy by empowering and reforming the ANC system
