Establish a DC Green Office and business incubator in each Ward where we can learn about the latest green products, services and policies.
DC Green Offices could encourage competition among the District's Wards to implement the greenest businesses. DC Green Offices could focus on green businesses incubation and provide the latest information on green buildings, green roofs, energy conservation, weatherizing, renewable energy sources/providers, water resources, rain gardens, local food producers, urban agriculture, community gardens, brownfield reclamation, superfund site cleanups, low impact development, waste reduction/recycling, composting, watershed protection, parkland/watershed reclamation, sustainable transportation, sustainable investing, etc..
DC Green Offices in every Ward could provide outreach on how to make DC more sustainable to District residents, workers and visitors through websites, lectures and special events for Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, Citizen/Neighborhood/Homeowners associations, condo boards, apartments, universities, colleges, public/charter/private schools, businesses, foundations, non-profits, local/federal government agencies, embassies, tourists, seniors, baby boomers, youths, etc.
DC Green Offices in every Ward could be funded through sponsorship from local green businesses, corporations, foundations, local/federal agencies, etc.. Foundations or corporate sponsors seeking to fill vacant office space in a down economy could provide discounted leases in LEED certified buildings located near public transportation. DC Green offices could branch out to organize internship/job fairs for unemployed residents/students/retreads, walking/biking tours of green buildings/homes, lecture series (like TEDx events), continuing education, film festivals, DC Green Day, etc..
