Providing FREE monthly networking opportunities in DC at noon on Sundays, build on meetup.com/onecity/
Support the volunteer grassroots initiative to provide FREE opportunities for people from all the wards to come together each month to share, collaborate and followup to take joint action on their ideas to build ONE CITY. Once people have connected in person at the free networking community event, they have been able to followup. This has been effective in bridging cultural, digital and other divides.

It is a good way of meeting people you otherwise won't meet.

For Chinese language students of all racial backgrounds, who would like to meet friendly Chinese Americans and Asian Americans to practice their Chinese, this would be provide an excellent and affordable opportunity for them to make new contacts and interact with others from Asian and other backgrounds. This is a great way to make the initial contacts so that they can obtain permission to followup later.

This Meetup for One City networking program provides opportunities for young people to gain valuable experience in events management, public speaking, working together as a team, attitude management, leadership skills and overall social skills. The interactive format helps young people become acquainted with the dynamics and realities of the “real world” in real time. It has experiential benefits for young people to learn by doing. As we all know it is important to develop skills before entering the work force. This Program allows young people to be involved in a community space that encourages them to connect with and learn from people they wouldn’t normally have access to. Through conversations they are exposed to new ideas and other resources in the community. They will mix with social entrepreneurs, professionals, coaches, community leaders. Some of these contacts may lead to future internships, training opportunities, sponsorship and information about other resources. – Howard Brown

A very good way to build bonds of friendship among people with diverse backgrounds. This event provides you an opportunity to meet people you would not otherwise meet; to listen to their points of view and to understand their perspectives on different issues; also it's fun to exchange ideas informally. This helps to broaden your understanding of different cultures and preferences, and it's a first step toward building a comfort level and mutual trust to work together on projects to build one city!

At this 3rd Sunday community event (12:30pm to 2:30pm) people have a chance to introduce themselves to the entire group, sharing what they are looking for and what they can provide. This has facilitated connections for people interested in personal, economic, spiritual, community development such as creating an Asian American destination in DC, building ONE CITY through dailyappreciations.net and many other grassroots authentic DC initiatives to achieve Mayor Gray wonderful vision!
