Designate a day each year for "Guitars Not Guns Day" music festival. GnG is a non profit children's music charity providing guitars and lessons to foster care and at-risk youth in the city. The students have an anthem song they play and sing called "Set Me Free". If we create a day to celebrate their achievements, encourage other youth to join, have food and concert can bond all race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ward or neighborhood through music. www.gngnca.org

I found a youtube video with "set me free" free guitar lesson, and then I just saw this, cause I am going to be at the one city convention thing. Is this the same song? I can play that song. my brother can play it too, but not as good as me. I like the song a whole lot cause it's easy and the words are cool.

As a local DC musician I support all music programs. I know it helps with development of children's goal setting, language and math skills. I think we need more programs like this to put music back into the hands of our city's youth. Stop the violence, and gangs and truancy. Let have a city music festival. This looks GREAT!

This is a fantastic idea! I volunteer for Guitars not Guns and am active with public safety issues in Ward 1. Guitars Not Guns would be a wonderful way to encourage children to succeed through music!! Please help us make this happen!

I have never heard of guitars not guns but what a really cool program! DC has seen too many young people suffer from gun violence.

I love guitar music. I have goofed around with my guitar for years. DC needs a good festival AND if this program gets kids off the street and puts a guitar in their hands then more power to ya!
