Bring our incarcerated loved ones back from rural america BOP that are more than 50 miles away from their family!
DC needs to stop being the funding source for BOP prisons being built to stimulate "Rural America". Our loved ones deserve to be within close proximity to their homes as all other incarcerated persons who reside in USA major cities and states.
Our neighbors, loved ones and family members have too long been imprisoned and subject to BOP incarceration for LOCAL criminal offenses, most of which are non-violent in nature, simply because we are denied "Our Federal Tax Payer Voting Rights". They even send our most vulnerable Learning Disabled and Mentally Challenged loved ones that distance as well and families can't even ensure that their civil and human rights are being protected!!!
Most families are unable to afford to travel to Texas, Utah, Florida, California, Iowa, Lousiana, etc. to check on thier loved ones simply because we are not respected as a City.
We love our children, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers TOOOOOO!!!
We should be afforded the opportunity to visit them at Will and to not have to endure UNBELIEVABLE costs to do so!!!
When will our elected officials address this issue head on? African American children go far too long being unable to connect to their parents, grand parents and siblings as a direct result of this "unconstitutiional discriminatory practice".
What elected official is speaking about up this injustice? Jim Crow, Modernized Slavery and Racism is Alive and Well!!! 95% of DC residents who are incarcerated in BOP facilities more than 50 miles away from their loved ones are African American.
What a shame that they are allowed to get away with it when we have a predominately African-American government leadership, not to mention our African American House of Representative elected official!!!!
I am an extremely concerned African American Native Washingtonian of 63 years!!!!

Yes, no more prisons for non-violent offenders, and especially for drug users; and even more esp. for marijuana users. $50k spent to incarcerate each person should be spent for their education ! With that kind of $$ they could go to Howard or Georgtown University.
