Bridging the divide among tenants, small housing providers, DHCD, other Government agencies and stakeholders…
Bridging the divide to fulfill the vision of One City among tenants, small housing providers, DHCD, other Government agencies and stakeholders, by facilitating problem solving conversations and meetings that will result in creative solutions and accomplishments for One City.
The first step could be for DC Department of Housing and Community Development establish an email list for all people interested in moving this idea forward.
A second step could be to come to the Meetup For One City, held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 12-2:30 at the Burma restaurant, @ 740 6th street NW second floor, DC 20001. This is one block from Gallery place metro, red line; follow the exit signs for Chinatown 7th and H. www.meetup.com/onecity/
Third, establishing a focus group for tenants and small housing providers to work together to develop strategies that can help the city research and create methods to solve problems and transform policies that function in the best interest of all parties together...

Thank you for these comments. As you may know, DHCD already hosts monthly outreach and educational functions very similar to what you have discussed. Stakeholder lists have been developed and continue to grow. Currently, both the Office of the Tenant Advocate and the Housing Provider Ombudsman host stakeholder events at least twice a year. As Housing Provider Ombudsman, I look forward to continuing to assisting the agency in further expanding the stakeholder list so that all interested parties are aware of the opportunities, win-win solutions and policy innovaitons we have already begun to employ with stakeholders.

Allies and Friends for One City support this idea which will help people move out of an adversarial paradigm to a solution-based evolutionary social entrepreneurial mindset. Let’s bring people from diverse backgrounds together to exchange ideas and come up with win-win-win solutions. People can work together with DHCD, DC Tax and Revenue and other DC government agencies to creatively achieve its housing, economic and community development objectives. Next step could be to meet in person, see you at Meetup for One City on any 3rd Sundays of the month at the Burma Restaurant, 740 6th St. NW 2nd floor, DC 20001. Also contact DHCD to let them know you want to be on an email list to be notified when such meetings may be planned in the future. By working together we can make genuine progress. DHCD innovative leaders plays a very important leadership role to help bridge this cultural divide. They could facilitate the process to co-create an innovative achievement for One City!
