An error occurred while saving the comment This is actually as important as having a library because most jobs now require applications on-line. If you're fortunate to have a PC great! however many of us (including me) can not afford the $40-50/mo internet fee to have it at home.

An error occurred while saving the comment I agree. When I lived in Ward 4, friends actually received parking tickets for visiting more than 2 hrs. This is ridiculous ! The City also needs to fnd a way for people who take comany cars that are registered in Va/Md home without getting tickets. Cars in DC are under siege !

An error occurred while saving the comment YES ! Many of my folks living out in the street are ex-offenders who started out in life with limited opportunities (which is why head-start programs are important) and they continue to be punished once released. Many ex-offenders are non-violent offenders. We need to give them a second chance by giving them jobs with living wages, allowing them to qualify for subdized housing and secondary education grants and other subsidies the rest of us are allowed.

An error occurred while saving the comment I agree. Too often non-profits and community organizations have to pay to use space (even in churces!). Yes, the library is free however noalways available. Use empty & non-empty buildings owned by the government for community use.

An error occurred while saving the comment AMEN ! Where is the money from camera-traffic-tickets going? It should be used for social services, especially for children, seniors, and people with disabilities that make them vulnerable.

An error occurred while saving the comment DC has a toll. It's called traffic cameras. I left DC last year BECAUSE of the extortion by parking/traffic camera tickets and the rent is too high. When the City makes DC more user-friendly I'll return.

An error occurred while saving the comment I have no children other than the 150+ men and 10+ women whose well-being I monitor out on the streets. Many are "underprivileged". Yes! early education IS important... and schools like Montessori are the best. These kids NEED a head start.

An error occurred while saving the comment I agree with Michael J. How many times do we have to say it: Lack of a vote in Congress disenfranchees Distic residents; no taxation without representation !

An error occurred while saving the comment ALL of these programs are important ! The City got its influx of 20k+ college educated and high-wage earners (taxpaying) increase of new residents it sought with the building boom that trampled on the poor; now give back to the poor. We ALL pay taxes...sales, fees, parking/camera tickets, etc. The (unspoken) suspension on protecting tenants during the building boom; and 40% cut in funds of services (yet 25% increase in demand) has hurt us all: clients and service providers. It's time for City Councilmembers and Developers to give back to the community.
LIBRARIES ARE IMPORTANT to education and democracy. Keep them open and florishin !
P.S. How are we suppose to hly 10 votes for all ese sggstions? And I voted 8 before realizing therare several pages of suggestions ! So hey, City Officials, consider all the suggestions important... esp. the ones that repeat itself... like MORE services for thr and the homeless and children, seniors, women, ex-offenders... heck, for u all !
